Are We Ready for His Effusion?

In this second sermon, what I was intrigued by and invited by God to pray on was the idea of the effusion of Christ and His love for us. Of all the plans that God has for us, the first and foremost to believe in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through believing that "He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God" (2 Corinthians 13:4), we are made to enter into a relationship with Him and to fear death no more.

It was said beautifully in the sermon that we were made for Christ's effusion into our lives, but many times we are not willing to let the effusion occur. The idea that we settle for an arm's length view of a relationship with God truly seems to stem from fear. The fear that all which is beyond our control cause us to think twice. I think this second-guessing comes from human nature's weakness and sinful propensity, but there is one thing that brings us closer to His effusion each day. That is the idea of baptism.

Dr. Johnson's explanation of the different forms of baptism was inspiring and thought-provoking. The idea from the different forms that spoke to me most was how we are in constant need of new showering of grace, a cleansing bath to let Him effuse into us.

Lord, we invite you into our presence to continue to baptize us in your precious and holy name. Thank you for guiding this team together, that we may be all in for You, and let Your effusion happen by your grace.
